Traffic Analyst Network provides a simple, more reliable alternative to the industry’s traditional methodologies to manage your telecommunications expenses and network engineering.
Simple, Yet Insightful Analytics
Traffic Analyst provides easy to understand performance metrics and graphs. Traffic Analyst’s rich inventory of graphs and reports are comprehensive and informative, yet very simple to read and understand. Reports not only tell you where you’ve been (trends) but also help understand where you may be going with the ability to detect and analyze anomalies. Simple graphs show expected performance levels (measured in number of blocked calls) based on the number of trunks. The estimated blocked calls are based on evaluating the varying levels of network capacity for every hour of every day for the entire range of selected dates.
Reports include:
- Trunk Groups & Route Pools
- Performance
- Usage Activity
- Usage and Capacity Profiles
- Gateway
- Activity Summary
- TDM Activity Detail
- VoIP Activity Detail
- Switch System Performance & Activity
Caller Grade of Service
Traffic Analyst advanced analytics show the service that all callers will experience, not just those associated with a limited number of data points. Only Traffic Analyst models call routing plans. Historically, other tools only report grade of service for individual trunk groups. In any situation where two or more trunk groups are joined in a route plan, reporting on the individual trunk group does not accurately reflect the service level experienced by your callers.
Traffic Analyst accounts for route pools, usage peaks that may not be cumulative and large resource efficiencies. The system will keep you from falling into the trap of maintaining or purchasing excess capacity that will not improve your service levels. Don’t risk spending money where no value will be received. Instead, let Traffic Analyst show you where you can redirect funds to purchasing other solutions that will provide real value.
24 x 365 Data
By collecting all the data all the time, Traffic Analyst is fundamentally different than other traffic engineering solutions. With its 24 x 365 database, Traffic Analyst eliminates the risks of limited data samples from limited time ranges. You don’t need to try to guess what time intervals to use for your studies. You will get all the data and use all the data to create an accurate analysis of the state of your voice network.
User-Defined Alarms
Traffic Analyst allows you to manage by exception with quarter hour alarms. There is a large library of alarms for keeping you abreast and ahead of issues, knowing about problems and abnormalities almost as they occur, sometimes even before. You can set user-defined thresholds for low, medium and high priority alerts that can be directed to a log, e-mail and/or pagers. Some of the available alarms include:
- All Trunks Busy
- High Trunk Group Utilization
- High Off Hour Outbound Usage
- No Seizures for a Trunk or Trunk Group
- Seizure Too Long
- Erratic Trunk Usage or Peg Count
What-If Modeling
Traffic Analyst’s “What if” modeling allows you to analyze the impact changes – such as site expansion or technology migrations - will have on your network performance.
Given the dynamic nature of networks, the flexibility to determine the impacts of changes is a critical component of a network planning application. Don’t guess! Use Traffic Analyst to model your scenarios:
- convert TDM load into VoIP bandwidth requirements
- define factors for growth in call volume or changes in call length
- evaluate varying service levels
- determine the impact of pooling trunk groups
- examine the impacts of altering IPDA operating parameters such as compression models and more.

Auto Discovery
As your network changes, you don’t have to worry about manually updating your traffic analysis tool. Traffic Analyst’s auto-discovery simplifies installation and eliminates the need for users to spend hours reconfiguring the application as changes occur.

dEPLOYMENT OPTIONS
Traffic Analyst Network allows you to choose the deployment model that fits your business requirements and budget.
- 24x365 Visibility – Don’t guess at what time intervals to use for your traffic studies. Get all the data and use all the data to create an accurate analysis of the state of your voice network. Trends in usage and performance can be understood and a statistically significant set of data can be selected for determining capacity requirements. Traffic Analyst provides two options to eliminate the risks of limited data samples from limited time ranges.
- Hosted – In the hosted model, Impact maintains all the hardware at our location and assures that you are always benefiting from the latest software enhancements. We will communicate with your switch(es) on a daily basis to collect the raw data. Your employees simply use their web browsers to access the reports they want and define their alarms. You minimize your upfront investment and on-going maintenance but leverage the long-term benefits of Traffic Analyst.
- Premise-Based – Do you prefer to own and operate the solution on your site? Purchase a license and Impact’s Technical Support team will ensure a smooth, effective onsite or remote installation process so your employees can enjoy the same great reports and alarms from behind your firewall.
- Periodic Reviews – Curious to see the insight that Traffic Analyst’s analytics can provide for your network but don’t want to make a long-term commitment?
- Traffic Study – Have data collected from 5 to 90 days and leverage Traffic Analyst Performance, Usage and Capacity Analysis reports for that period plus 30 days to conduct a detailed investigation into your network performance and model changes in your network usage.
- Network Analysis – Enjoy the benefits of the Traffic Study, plus receive an inventory of routing plans and trunk groups, what-if modeling options with alternative routing plans, and optimization recommendations to improve performance and/or reduce costs.
